What: CROP walks build community and raise funds to fight hunger at home and abroad. CROP walks take place all over the nation with over $400,000 raised in the Pacific Northwest region last year. Our goal for the Whatcom County walk is $20,000. Twenty-five percent of our proceeds will go to the Bellingham Food Bank, the Ferndale Food Bank and Maple Alley Inn.
When: Sunday, September 28 from 2:00-4:00. Registration materials are available now from First Christian Church of Bellingham, 495 E. Bakerview Rd. (360)734-6820.
Where: Fairhaven Village Green. There are two routes; a short route of approximately 1 mile and a longer route of approximately 2.5 miles.
Who: Walkers and supporters come from all walks of life. Businesses, civic groups and church groups are all participating in building community and raising funds around this issue. Why: We walk because they walk. Millions of people walk miles every day just to find food, water, firewood or temporary shelter. CROP walk is a way of being in solidarity and community with hungry people throughout the world.
